「Our group will continue to consider business alliances, capital alliances and M&A with other companies as effective means of increasing corporate value. When pursuing such transactions, we conduct investigations of counterparties by third parties and verify business plans, making every effort to gather information on the target companies. However, if the expected benefits are not achieved, if maintaining an alliance becomes difficult because of the target company’s financial condition, or if facts that could not have been recognized when the transaction was approved subsequently come to light, we may record impairment losses on shares held or goodwill.」
While continuing to consider M&A and similar transactions, the company discloses impairment risk relating to shares and goodwill if expected benefits are not achieved, the target’s financial condition deteriorates or previously unknown facts emerge.
