    「As announced on January 30, 2007 in 'Strategic Alliance between Nippon Steel Corporation (currently Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation) and Chubu Steel Plate Co.,Ltd.,' the Company and Chubu Steel Plate Co.,Ltd. agreed to pursue a strategic alliance to strengthen both companies' competitiveness. Under the alliance, they considered and implemented measures aimed at: 1. mutually effective use of both companies' production facilities; 2. mutual cooperation to reduce costs in production, equipment repairs, raw-material procurement and product logistics; and 3. engineering cooperation by Nippon Steel Corporation (currently Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation) to develop the foundation of the Company's rolling line. Having achieved the alliance's original objectives, the parties decided to allow the strategic alliance to expire.」
