「Our group uses scenario analysis to assess the impact of climate change on our businesses, prepare appropriately for the associated risks, and pursue initiatives to capture business opportunities. The scenarios assumed for the analysis, including the circumstances under the 1.5°C and 4°C scenarios, and the principal reports and other sources used are set out below.」
Under the 1.5°C and 4°C scenarios, we identified higher operating and procurement costs due to carbon taxes and GHG regulations, instability in scrap procurement, disruption to operations and supply chains due to flooding and other events, and lower labour productivity. Our response measures include energy-efficient equipment, expanding procurement sources, BCP, disaster preparedness and labour-saving investment.
