Supplementary Explanatory Materials for the Second Quarter Financial Results for the Fiscal Year Ending March 2027

In the first half, net sales, operating profit, ordinary profit and net income were below the year-earlier period, due to delays in the adoption of revised selling prices, higher scrap prices, and lower shipments resulting from the earthquake and prolonged heavy rain. While revising its full-year forecast downward, the company plans to pay no ordinary year-end dividend, pay a special dividend of ¥69, and repurchase approximately ¥5.88 billion of treasury shares.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

The company cited stagnant construction demand, labor shortages, higher construction material costs, rising scrap prices and energy and logistics costs, delays in the adoption of revised selling prices, lower shipments due to the Kumamoto Earthquake and prolonged heavy rain, foreign exchange losses, and disaster losses. For the second half, it expects improvement from the full restoration of the Kumamoto Plant, the adoption of revised selling prices and additional revisions, the effect of an energy-efficient electric furnace, and cost reductions.
