The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the first half, higher sales of electrostatic chucks and AD components on strong demand for advanced semiconductors, higher revenue in overseas housing equipment, and foreign exchange effects contributed to higher profit. In Japan housing equipment, however, lower sales of bathroom products and higher external procurement costs weighed on profit. Overseas, weaker market conditions and an unfavorable product mix in the Americas, as well as increased staffing and showroom investment in Europe, also reduced profit. The full-year plan incorporates weaker market conditions in the Americas and mainland China, the December price revision, cost-reduction benefits, and demand for advanced semiconductors.
