The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the Carbon Black business, lower sales volumes due to production adjustments by tire manufacturers and higher depreciation expenses at the new plant in Thailand reduced profit. In the Fine Carbon business, weak demand in the SiC power semiconductor market weighed on earnings.
