Higher prices for materials and components resulting from the situation in the Middle East, together with the postponement or review of projects scheduled to be ordered, contributed to the decline in revenue and profit. Meanwhile, orders expanded in the building equipment-related business on orders for medium- and large-scale public works projects and proactive sales efforts targeting private-sector construction, while the real estate-related business progressed broadly in line with the initial plan.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the concrete-related business, revenue and segment profit declined due to higher material prices resulting from the situation in the Middle East and the postponement or review of projects scheduled to be ordered. In the building equipment-related business, revenue increased on expanded orders, while the segment loss worsened because of higher component prices. The revenue recognition method was changed because the company determined that its system for identifying delivery dates had been established and that the change would more appropriately reflect the substance of the transfer of control to customers.
