「The Group has set management targets under the 20 Medium-Term Management Plan of an operating margin of 9% or higher and a return on assets based on ordinary income of 8% or higher in fiscal 2020, and is working to achieve them. In fiscal 2018, the operating margin was 7.2% and the return on assets based on ordinary income was 6.3%. This was due to higher revenue year on year, reflecting an increase in domestic cement sales volumes and a recovery in US cement demand, among other factors, while costs increased in the domestic cement business and equity-method investment income declined.」

Against the fiscal 2020 targets under the 20 Medium-Term Management Plan, fiscal 2018 results were an operating margin of 7.2% and a return on assets based on ordinary income of 6.3%. Creating and improving profitability continued to be recognized as a key issue.
