The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue increased due to the weaker yen and higher revenue in the automotive glass business on a local-currency basis. Operating profit increased as sales volumes of glass for solar panels rose in the architectural glass business and profitability improved in the high-performance glass business. Although raw material and fuel costs increased, part of the impact was absorbed through improved selling prices and the effects of various initiatives.
