The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue increased due to foreign exchange effects as well as growth in the automotive glass and architectural glass businesses in Europe and the Americas. Operating profit benefited from improved selling prices in the European architectural glass business and the Americas automotive glass business, as well as cost improvements, including the shutdown of a float furnace. In the North American automotive glass business, however, production efficiency temporarily declined, while free cash flow decreased due to an increase in working capital. Net income exceeded the forecast due to the one-off recognition of deferred tax assets in the United Kingdom.
