Reason for the revision

Although the precision equipment business performed strongly, the other businesses fell below plan. Operating profit absorbed increases in raw material costs and other expenses through the restraint of facility-related expenses in selling, general and administrative expenses, while ordinary profit benefited from non-operating expenses being lower than expected due to a reduction in foreign exchange losses and other factors. Interim net income increased because the recording of closure costs was postponed until the third quarter or later due to delays in relocating the Moka Plant, and because the tax burden decreased as losses were recognized in connection with the disposal of assets related to the former Tochigi Plant.

Previous-period resultsNet sales: ¥3,425 million; operating profit: ¥248 million; ordinary profit: ¥214 million; interim net income attributable to owners of the parent: ¥37 million; interim earnings per share: ¥29.61

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Although the precision equipment business performed strongly, revenue was broadly in line with the forecast because the other businesses fell below plan. Operating profit absorbed increases in raw material costs and other expenses through the restraint of facility-related expenses in selling, general and administrative expenses, while ordinary profit increased due to a reduction in foreign exchange losses and other factors. Interim net income increased because the recording of closure costs was postponed until the third quarter or later due to delays in relocating the Moka Plant, and because the tax burden decreased as losses were recognized in connection with the disposal of assets related to the former Tochigi Plant.
