The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Selling prices were revised in response to surging raw material prices amid heightened tensions in the Middle East. However, in the first half, raw materials purchased before the price increases were used, delaying their impact on cost of sales. Higher inventory unit costs also contributed to profits exceeding the initial forecasts. In the second half, the first half's increase in raw material prices is expected to be reflected in cost of sales, and the extent of earnings growth is expected to narrow from the first half.
