The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The decline in net income was due to the reversal of the prior year's gain on negative goodwill. The reasons given for revising the medium-term management plan downward were the lack of effectiveness in the existing businesses' strategies, failure to meet plans for new products and higher-value-added products, weak earnings power in the Pet Care business, and delays in the overseas business growth strategy.
