「From the beginning of the first quarter accounting period, we adopted the Accounting Standard for Revenue Recognition (Accounting Standard No. 29, 31 March 2020; hereinafter, the “Revenue Recognition Standard”) and related standards. Revenue is recognized at the amount expected to be received in exchange for the promised goods or services when control of those goods or services transfers to the customer. The principal change is that, for certain medical device sales transactions, revenue was previously recognized at the gross amount of consideration received from customers, whereas for transactions in which our role in providing goods or services to customers is that of an agent, revenue is now recognized on a net basis, after deducting the amount paid to suppliers from the amount received from customers.」
From the beginning of the first quarter accounting period, the Revenue Recognition Standard and related standards were adopted, and certain medical device agency transactions were changed from gross to net presentation. The impact on profit or loss was immaterial, and there was no impact on the opening balance of retained earnings.
