The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The reasons cited were the company’s efforts to secure appropriate selling prices amid continued increases in raw material prices and supplier price revisions, stronger sales across all businesses, and progress in shifting toward high-value-added products and optimising the product portfolio. During the first six months, sales of functional inks and coating agents, products for medical packaging, products for mobility applications, products for functional packaging materials and materials for water treatment performed well, with some demand also brought forward. For the full year, the company expects increased sales in the second half and expanded sales of high-value-added products, while also anticipating the effects of rising raw material costs and changes in market conditions. The dividend was increased in light of the dividend policy of maintaining a payout ratio of at least 40% or DOE of at least 1.0%, as well as efforts to enhance shareholder returns and improve capital efficiency.
