The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Although cost pressures continued due to elevated raw material prices and other factors, operating profit increased as a result of fixed-cost reductions. Net sales increased due to growth in the infrastructure sector and price revisions for automotive coatings, while sales in the industrial and other coatings sectors declined. Net income fell into the red because an impairment loss was recognized following the decision to sell employee welfare facilities, which resulted in a loss on disposal.
