The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The Company recorded an operating loss after deducting research and development expenses and selling, general and administrative expenses from gross profit. Research and development expenses totaled ¥230 million, mainly due to studies on cost reductions and indication expansion for DALVIAS®, animal studies for SP-04, preparations for clinical trials of SP-05, and investment in new development candidates. Selling, general and administrative expenses totaled ¥347 million. Although payment for Sancuso® product sales had already been received, recognition of product sales revenue was deferred to the third quarter because the required documentation procedures had not been completed.
