The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Net sales declined due to changes in the competitive environment and market demand for GBS-007 following the launch of an aflibercept biosimilar and its biosimilar authorized generic. On the profit front, although the weaker yen and changes in the product mix affected costs, optimized supply pricing, the effects of measures to reduce manufacturing costs, and a year-on-year decrease in research and development expenses drove profits higher. In addition, extraordinary gains, including the reversal of losses on the cancellation of lease agreements, contributed to net income.
