Reason for the revision

Due to declining demand for the ADC portfolio, a difference arose between the new supply plan and the minimum purchase obligations to the CMO. A loss compensation amount of approximately ¥75.7 billion will be recorded as a one-off expense in fiscal 2025. In addition, an estimated loss of approximately ¥19.3 billion, comprising impairment losses and compensation payments associated with the cancellation and termination of the related contracts, will be recorded following the cancellation of the ADC-related capital investment projects at the Odawara Plant.

Details and amount of extraordinary loss

In the non-consolidated results, a special loss of ¥149.4 billion is expected to be recorded, primarily for the reasons described above. In the consolidated results, the items include a provision of approximately ¥75.7 billion for loss compensation payable to the CMO and approximately ¥19.3 billion in impairment losses and compensation payments related to ADC-related equipment at the Odawara Plant.

Previous-period resultsFiscal 2024: revenue of ¥1,886,256 million, core operating profit of ¥312,835 million, operating profit of ¥331,925 million, profit before tax of ¥355,631 million, profit for the year of ¥295,756 million, profit for the year attributable to owners of the parent of ¥295,756 million, and basic earnings per share of ¥155.96

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Demand declined following a review of the target patient population and launch plan based on the clinical trial results for the ADC portfolio, resulting in a difference between the minimum purchase obligations to the CMO under the former and revised supply plans. Accordingly, a provision will be recorded for the loss compensation amount. In addition, the ADC-related capital investment projects at the Odawara Plant will be cancelled due to the revision of the supply plan, and the estimated losses comprising impairment losses and compensation payments associated with the cancellation and termination of the related contracts will be recorded.
