The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the fiscal year ended March 2026, higher sales in the Pharmaceuticals business and Other businesses, growth in domestic pharmaceuticals, and orders for GIGA School projects contributed to the increase in sales. The operating loss and ordinary loss resulted from higher SG&A expenses, primarily research and development expenses related to the in-licensing of technology for TED therapeutic drugs and the advancement of development programs. The increase in net income was supported by gains on the sale of investment securities and a decrease in impairment losses. For the fiscal year ending March 2027, the company expects sales to decline due to a pullback in GIGA School projects in the Information Services business, while forecasting a return to operating and ordinary profitability as the cost of sales ratio improves and SG&A expenses decline due to the year-on-year pullback in research and development expenses.
