The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the domestic business, higher costs, including labor and personnel expenses, were offset through price revisions and lower advertising expenses. However, operating income declined by ¥872 million following a change in the estimate for asset retirement obligations related to asbestos removal costs. In the overseas business, factors behind the operating loss included weak consumption in China, lower sales volumes amid intensifying price competition in Europe and Southeast Asia, lower gross profit due to declining revenue, and higher personnel expenses.
