Supplementary Financial Results Materials for the Second Quarter (Interim Period) of the Fiscal Year Ending March 22027

From April to September 2026, sales revenue and operating profit substantially exceeded the same period of the previous year, mainly due to the consolidation of Torii Pharmaceutical, the transfer of the edaravone business, growth in overseas subsidiaries and exports, and an increase in royalty income. However, growth in profit before tax was limited by a decrease in financial income and an increase in financial expenses.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Sales revenue increased by ¥37.5 billion from domestic prescription pharmaceuticals, ¥64.4 billion from overseas subsidiaries and exports, and ¥36.1 billion from royalty income. While gross profit increased, operating profit was affected by higher selling-related expenses for the US business, the consolidation of Torii Pharmaceutical, and higher costs associated with the transfer of the JT pharmaceutical business and the edaravone business. Profit before tax was affected by a decrease in financial income related to the application of the equity method to ViiV's interest and increases in interest expense and foreign exchange losses.
