The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Cost of sales and selling, general and administrative expenses increased due to stepped-up hiring, the renewal of existing systems, and development related to new businesses. At Softel, profitability improved as the impact of higher engineer costs associated with a large-scale project in the previous fiscal year subsided. The absence of the equity-method investment loss recorded in the previous fiscal year and an increase in gains on sales of investment securities also boosted profit.
