Reason for the revision

In addition to increased sales volumes resulting from higher demand for high-value-added products, particularly semiconductor- and electronic-component-related materials, and higher demand caused by temporary supply disruptions affecting imported products due to the situation in the Middle East, there was a certain timing lag before the impact of rising raw material prices was reflected in cost of sales, among other factors.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Sales volumes increased due to higher demand for high-value-added products, particularly semiconductor- and electronic-component-related materials, as well as higher demand resulting from temporary supply disruptions affecting imported products amid the situation in the Middle East. There was also a certain timing lag before the increase in raw material prices was reflected in cost of sales. The dividend revision took into comprehensive consideration the revised earnings forecasts, the acquisition and cancellation of treasury shares, and the Company's financial position.
