Although revenue increased in the Test Center Business, the factors reducing revenue outweighed this increase because certain public-sector projects included in the same period of the previous year and certain projects received on a one-year basis in the previous consolidated fiscal year were absent from the current period in the Test Operations and Contracted Services Business. Expenses decreased, but this was insufficient to offset the decline in revenue, and operating profit decreased. In non-operating income, insurance proceeds of ¥107,366 thousand and gains on sales of investment securities of ¥11,044 thousand, among other items, supported ordinary profit.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Although the Test Center Business recorded higher revenue, the decline in revenue in the Test Operations and Contracted Services Business, resulting from the absence in the current period of certain projects included in the same period of the previous year, was greater. Expenses decreased, but this was insufficient to offset the decline in revenue, and operating profit decreased. While non-operating income, including insurance proceeds and gains on sales of investment securities, supported ordinary profit, the Company posted a net loss due to extraordinary losses, including special retirement payments, and the recognition of income taxes and other taxes.
