Graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo, completed a master’s program at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Economics, and earned a Ph.D. in Economics and Statistics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His principal research fields are econometrics, statistics, and economic theory.
