Reason for the revision

Based on results for the interim consolidated accounting period and the outlook from the third quarter onward, the demand outlook and exchange rates were reviewed. The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

The revision reflects results for the interim consolidated accounting period, the outlook from the third quarter onward, revised demand prospects, and a review of exchange rates. While products such as cosmetics-related products in the Functional Chemicals business have performed well, the forecast incorporates some shipments in the Pharmaceuticals, Medical and Health business being pushed back to the next period, higher raw material and fuel prices, consumers' preference for saving, and a shift in demand toward lower-priced products. The dividend was increased after taking into comprehensive consideration the policy for returning profits to shareholders, business performance, and financial condition.
