The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. On a consolidated basis, the increase in revenue, along with structural reforms in China and higher profits in Indonesia and Thailand, contributed to results. In Japan, higher initial costs, personnel expenses and store-opening costs associated with an aggressive store-opening program weighed on operating profit, although increased existing-store sales and new stores contributed to profit. Ordinary profit and net profit were also affected by foreign exchange gains.
