Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Although the transfer of Micron to an equity-method affiliate was a factor contributing to the decrease, net sales increased mainly because 2 customer projects with particularly large contract values for the electronic medical record system went live during the interim period. Operating income and ordinary income increased in line with the increase in electronic medical record system sales, and net income also increased despite the impairment loss recorded for Doctor Connect.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Net sales increased mainly because 2 electronic medical record system projects with particularly large contract values went live during the interim period, resulting in increases in operating income and ordinary income. Although an impairment loss was recorded for Doctor Connect, net income also increased due to the aforementioned increases in profit. The decision to pay no year-end dividend is intended, among other reasons, to avoid economic disparities among shareholders following completion of the tender offer.
