Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

The utilization rate of the Functional Materials segment increased and profitability improved following the start of production in the protective film business acquired in the previous fiscal year. Light Packaging Materials was affected by lower orders for food packaging materials and daily-use products, while Industrial Materials was affected by the downsizing of certain customers' businesses, system failures and the inflow of overseas products. Meanwhile, orders for Functional Materials increased following the start of production in the protective film business.
