Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Uncertainty surrounding U.S. trade policy, higher raw material and fuel prices arising from the conflict in the Middle East, and disruptions to supply chains affected results. In Functional Colorants, demand for printer materials declined due to inventory adjustments by some customers, while demand increased for dyes used to color aluminum and other products. In Functional Resins, Basic Chemicals and Agroscience, demand declined and customers adjusted inventories for urethane materials, construction materials, specialty chemicals, sodium percarbonate, herbicides and other products. In Logistics-Related, cargo movements for imports and exports were sluggish, although handling volumes for ISO tank containers increased.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

During the fiscal year, revenue declined in several businesses due to inventory adjustments by some customers and lower demand. For the next fiscal year, revenue is expected to increase following the inclusion of Framochem as a consolidated subsidiary, while the forecast incorporates one-off costs associated with the acquisition, higher raw material and fuel prices, increased logistics costs and demand fluctuations.
