In the Chemicals Business, strong sales of products for the electronics industry, due to increased AI-related demand and other factors, higher domestic sales volumes, and higher selling prices accompanying the surge in nonferrous metal prices contributed to higher revenue. These gains were partly offset by increased research and development expenses and raw material costs, as well as lower revenue from contract processing. In the Building Materials Business, a rebound from temporarily reduced demand, the development of new customers, and expanded sales of new products contributed to higher revenue and profit.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Net sales increased because sales expanded in both the Chemicals Business and the Building Materials Business. Operating income declined due to higher selling, general and administrative expenses and other factors, while net income attributable to owners of the parent declined mainly because early-retirement-related expenses of ¥148 million were recorded as an extraordinary loss.
