The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Sales increased because the decline in sales volume following the end of the titanium dioxide business was offset by the electronic materials business, which is benefiting from strong AI server demand, and other businesses. Operating profit declined due to the decrease in sales volume following the end of the titanium dioxide business and the negative impact of the year-on-year decline in organic chemicals and pharmaceutical API intermediates, whose sales had been concentrated in the same quarter of the previous year. Net income increased because the company recorded approximately ¥1 billion in gains on the planned sale of fixed assets.
