Reason for the revision

As no resolution of the situation in the Middle East is expected, naphtha prices and overseas market conditions for major products have remained higher than anticipated, driving up selling prices, and net sales are expected to exceed the previous forecast. Operating income is expected to exceed the previous forecast due to an improvement in the inventory receipt/issue price differential in basic materials and a recovery in demand for semiconductor-related products in high-performance materials. However, given the deterioration in foreign exchange gains and losses resulting from the revision of the assumed exchange rates, ordinary income and net income attributable to owners of the parent will remain unchanged.

Previous-period resultsNet sales ¥1,019,917 million, operating income ¥95,532 million, ordinary income ¥106,752 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent ¥41,615 million, earnings per share ¥132.40

As no resolution of the situation in the Middle East is expected, naphtha prices and overseas market conditions for major products are expected to remain higher than anticipated, resulting in higher selling prices and an increase in net sales. Operating income is expected to increase due to an improvement in the inventory receipt/issue price differential in basic materials and a recovery in demand for semiconductor-related products in high-performance materials.
