Reason for the revision

The company had previously left its earnings forecast undetermined due to heightened uncertainty over the procurement environment for raw materials and fuel resulting from the situation in the Middle East, rising costs and demand trends. However, based on first-quarter results and current conditions, it is now possible to make a reasonable calculation. Cost increases resulting from the situation in the Middle East will be absorbed through price pass-through, higher sales volumes and factory cost improvements, while the absence of an expected gain on reversal of the retirement benefit provision recorded in the previous fiscal year is a factor behind the decline in profit.

Previous-period resultsInterim period: Revenue ¥13,827 million, operating income ¥1,210 million, ordinary income ¥1,156 million, interim net income ¥803 million, interim net income per share ¥88.49. Full year: Revenue ¥28,008 million, operating income ¥2,679 million, ordinary income ¥2,563 million, net income ¥1,850 million, net income per share ¥203.79.
Dividend forecast revisionThe previously undetermined dividend is set at ¥26 at the end of the second quarter, ¥26 at fiscal year-end and ¥52 for the full year. This represents an annual increase of ¥3 from the previous fiscal year's actual dividend.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

The company had previously left its forecasts undetermined due to the procurement environment for raw materials and fuel resulting from the situation in the Middle East, rising costs and uncertainty over demand trends.
