Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

In the private education market, revenue declined due to a decrease in the number of contracts at some major chains, while campaigns targeting the start of the new school year at cram schools were successful and drove new customer acquisition. In the school sector, the number of schools introducing paid services and the number of user IDs grew significantly among both public and private schools, while overseas, Surala Nihongo in Indonesia expanded. In the BtoC business, the number of user IDs declined due to intensifying competition with other companies' services and other factors. Overall, although the number of IDs increased, revenue declined due in part to the impact on unit prices from changes in the mix of services adopted. The Company continued to strengthen its sales and development teams and invest in the development of new services and other offerings.
