The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the Platform segment, net sales declined because the decrease in active users that began in the previous fiscal year could not be offset, despite efficient advertising operations. Profit increased, however, as advertising expenses decreased substantially. In the Content segment, the sales-boosting effect of hits among new releases was limited. The contraction of the print publishing market and higher costs, including manuscript fees, also contributed to the decline in profit.
