The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the Printed Packaging Materials Business, higher revenue was supported by the rollout of domestic selling-price revisions and a recovery in orders for pharmaceutical products overseas. In the Packaging Systems Sales Business, acceptance of large-scale projects progressed during the first quarter. Operating profit increased despite higher costs resulting from rising raw-material prices and labor costs, owing to higher sales in both businesses and improved profitability in the Printed Packaging Materials Business.
