Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Development investment was restrained and projects were delayed against a backdrop of customer companies' tariff policies, sluggish EV demand and intensifying competition with Chinese manufacturers. Orders also declined in the Consulting and Reverse Engineering businesses, and one-time expenses were incurred in connection with office relocations. In the Information Platform business, the effects of price revisions for existing customers and the weaker yen contributed to higher revenue. Repeat orders contributed in the Promotional Advertising business, a high contract renewal rate contributed in the Market Forecast Information Sales business, and an increase in the number of completed placements contributed in the Recruitment business.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Customer companies restrained development investment and project progress was delayed against a backdrop of tariff policies under the Trump administration, a temporary slowdown in global EV demand and intensifying competition with Chinese manufacturers, affecting order trends. In addition, orders declined in the Consulting and Reverse Engineering businesses, while operating profit was also affected by one-time expenses recorded in connection with the relocation of the head office, the Shanghai subsidiary and the U.S. subsidiary.
