The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Strong demand for high-speed services for the semiconductor and industrial equipment industries largely offset the impact of the cancellation of a product development project by a major customer in the automotive industry. The increase in revenue more than offset higher costs for wage increases, the head office relocation, recruitment and advertising, and research and development, resulting in higher operating profit. Net income declined due to the reversal of the tax benefit from the liquidation of a subsidiary recorded in the year-earlier period and the recognition of head office relocation costs as an extraordinary loss.
