The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Revenue increased due to growth in the e-book distribution business and the contribution from Seven Seas Entertainment, LLC. Operating income declined as Nihon Bungeisha's performance remained under improvement and research and development expenses were incurred for new services, but the decline was smaller than initially expected due to the effect of the summer campaign and Seven Seas' contribution. Ordinary income and interim net income attributable to owners of the parent declined due to non-operating expenses associated with the acquisition of Seven Seas and the absence of the gain on the sale of MyAnimeList shares recorded in the same period of the previous year. The full-year forecast was revised in light of the transfer of shares and equity interests in consolidated subsidiaries, in order to focus on the overseas expansion of Japanese content through the international business.
