The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Net sales increased due to the pass-through of higher material costs into selling prices and the effect of yen depreciation. While worsening conditions in the Middle East and higher fixed costs from capital investment were factors reducing operating profit, the spillover effect of the timing difference in reflecting material costs and cost improvement efforts contributed to higher operating profit.
