The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In Japan, store sales and e-commerce sales fell below the previous year, with a decline in customer traffic at the core AZUL BY MOUSSY brand being the main factor behind the decrease in sales. Meanwhile, the Company secured operating profit by tightening purchasing controls and converting inventory into cash at an early stage, thereby reducing inventory valuation losses, as well as through lower consignment sales expenses and fixed-cost controls. Overseas, the U.S. business was unable to reduce selling, general and administrative expenses sufficiently and was also affected by the bankruptcy of a major department store operator. Following the dissolution of the Chinese joint venture, the Chinese wholesale company was removed from the scope of consolidation, eliminating equity-method investment losses and resulting in a gain on the sale of shares in an affiliate.
