The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Revenue declined due to factors including decreases in customer numbers and the number of items purchased per customer at existing home improvement stores. Meanwhile, the gross profit margin improved as a result of the increased sales mix of private-label products and improved gross margins on private-label products. SG&A expenses decreased through cost controls, including controls over labor hours and electricity costs. At アミーゴ, sales increased through new store openings and business integration, despite decreases in the number of dogs and cats sold, unit prices and customer numbers at existing stores. Profit declined, however, due to increases in personnel expenses, payment processing fees and other costs.
