Supplementary Explanatory Materials for the Second Quarter Financial Results for the Fiscal Year Ending October 2026

In the second quarter of the fiscal year ending October 2026, a substantial increase in revenue and profit in the product planning-related business drove consolidated net sales, operating profit and ordinary profit above the level of the same period of the previous year. The EC marketing business reported higher revenue but lower profit as orders for large-scale projects declined with the spread of AI, resulting in a decrease in net income.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

The EC marketing business reported higher revenue as sales of D2C products, furniture and home appliances, and daily necessities remained solid. However, profit declined at subsidiary Kannart as the value of orders for large-scale projects fell due to the spread of AI. The product planning-related business reported substantial increases in revenue and profit, driven by the rapid expansion of apparel sales by its Chinese subsidiary, orders for functional fiber-related products, and strong orders and deliveries at its Vietnamese subsidiary, pushing up consolidated operating profit. Ordinary profit increased due to higher operating profit, despite the reversal of the ¥46 million foreign exchange gain recorded in the same period of the previous year.
