The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Strengthening sales at existing stores, opening new stores, converting stores to specialty formats, and strengthening the outdoor, sports and fishing-tackle businesses contributed to the increase in sales. Although the gross profit margin improved, SG&A expenses also increased due to higher headcount and pay raises, new store openings and events.
