The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

In the wholesale business, sales of food ingredients, dairy products, processed agricultural products and environment-related products remained strong. In the manufacturing and sales business, sales of roe products and pickled products also performed well. Although gross profit increased significantly as a result of higher revenue, net income declined because the gain on the sale of shares of an affiliate recorded in the previous fiscal year was absent and an expense for the provision for directors' retirement benefits and litigation settlement costs were recorded.
