Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Although sales of dairy ingredients struggled due to weak demand for dairy ingredients and cheese and the impact of measures to address inventories of domestically produced skim milk powder, sales of meat ingredients, life sciences products, and cheese manufactured and sold in Asia performed well, and net sales increased due to higher selling prices resulting from the weaker yen. Profit declined because the ¥650 million compensation income received in the previous year was absent, profit margins fell as expenses were recognized ahead of related revenues, and selling, general and administrative expenses increased, mainly due to the relocation of the head office.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Although sales of dairy ingredients struggled amid weak domestic demand for dairy ingredients and cheese and the impact of measures to address inventories of domestically produced skim milk powder, sales of meat ingredients, life sciences products, and cheese manufactured and sold in Asia performed well. Net sales also increased due in part to higher selling prices resulting from the weaker yen. Profit declined because the ¥650 million compensation income received in the previous year was absent, certain expenses were recognized ahead of related revenues in some transactions, and selling, general and administrative expenses increased, mainly due to the relocation of the head office.
