Although revenue was broadly flat in FY2025, operating income and profit attributable to owners of the parent increased significantly, driven by improved profitability in films and other businesses. The consolidated earnings forecast and dividend forecast for FY2026 were left undetermined because the impact of the situation in the Middle East could not be reasonably estimated.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Operating income increased due to higher selling prices, lower raw material and fuel costs, and higher volumes. By segment, the increase was driven by improved profitability in packaging films and expanded sales of industrial films in the Films segment, higher sales and improved profitability in the Environment and Functional Materials segment, and cost reductions in the Functional Fibers and Trading segment. In contrast, profit declined in Life Science because sales of reagents for diagnostic products were weak due to market conditions in China, sales at overseas sites decreased, and the launch of a new plant was delayed. The FY2026 forecast was left undetermined because the intensifying situation in the Middle East makes it difficult to reasonably estimate the impact of disruptions to raw material supplies and higher prices.
