The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In FY2025, department store revenue increased on strong spending by affluent customers and the effect of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, but profit declined due to higher costs, including price increases. The decline in operating profit and profit for the year was affected by the reversal of a gain on a step acquisition recorded in the previous year. For FY2026, the renovation of the Umeda store and the fading of the Expo effect are expected to weigh on profit, while the company aims for higher revenue and profit through growth in department store sales to corporate and high-net-worth customers, the effects of renovations, the effects of shopping center renovations, and property sales by the developer business.
